Welcome to the latest issue of Motor Finance magazine

In this edition, our feature article - 'Challenges on the road to decarbonisation by 2035' - revisits the UK's transition to electric vehicles. As Chris Farnell says, the age of the internal combustion engine is drawing to a close and the electric car will soon reign supreme, but significant barriers to achieving the ideal of all new cars and vans being "fully zero emission at the tailpipe" by 2035 remain. Affordability, vehicle range and charging issues remain top concerns for individual retailers, buyers of commercial vehicles and business fleet managers.

The issue of charge point deployment is taken up by Melanie Shufflebotham of Zapmap in a comment piece entitled 'Roadmap for EV charging infrastructure will require a joint effort' while another comment piece, 'Is the rate-for-risk model a solution to selling more used cars?' by Peter Cottle of Finativ looks the role that financial innovation is playing in second-hand car market in the quest for more buyers as the sound of belts being tightened across the country prompts a tailored approach to finance.

I hope you enjoy the edition,
