Imagine pulling up to an EV charger, plugging in for five minutes, and driving off with 250 miles of range, just like refuelling a petrol car. According to Startline Motor Finance’s latest survey, 72% of consumers say they’d make the switch to electric if this became reality.
But is the technology ready? Experts suggest we’re close, but significant hurdles remain. While manufacturers are pushing ultra-fast charging solutions, today’s battery systems can’t yet withstand the extreme power demands. Infrastructure is another major challenge, chargers rated at 1MW would require a massive investment in the UK’s grid.
