In this edition, we turn our attention to the quiet architects of connected mobility, the companies building the data infrastructure that keeps modern fleets moving. Our cover story profiles Neil Cawse, the engineer-turned-entrepreneur who founded Geotab and, over 25 years, helped transform telematics from a niche fleet tool into the digital backbone of the software-defined vehicle.
What struck us in reporting this feature is how central Cawse’s pragmatism remains in an industry awash with hype. From multi-cloud resilience to the messy reality of OEM data, his perspective reminds us that mobility’s future isn’t shaped by slogans, but by systems that work.
Elsewhere in this issue, we examine Europe’s expensive race to catch China on batteries; Geely Auto’s UK strategy; Novuna Vehicle Solutions’ take on the true path to autonomous driving; the supply-chain shockwaves from JLR’s cyber-attack; and the overlooked role of number-plate compliance in motor finance.
